Easy Sign Up v2

Easy Sign Up WordPress Plugin is about to be upgrade to Version Two

If you don’t have the current version of the easy sign up plugin you can get it from WordPress.org

New easy sign up plugin's options screen

Updates will include:

  • The Default Heading is Gone
    • Just add your own headings in the short code
  • Custom Fast Form Validation
    • No more jQuery
    • I’ve written a very light weight validator that will:
      • Speed up your site
      • Stop clashes with a few other plugins and themes that don’t use the no-conflict mode (more on that later)
  • Added Support for the WordPress Email Functi0n
    • The plugin used to use the native PHP mail function but I have one user who’s host did not allow unauthenticated smtp access on his server. So he used the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin.
Long story short –  I  wrote a custom script for him.
    • So Rob this on is for you mate 😉
  • Language Translation Support
  • Cleaned Up the User Interface
    • Move the Options link out of the Tools menu and into it’s very own spot
    • New logo and Icons – not that it matters!
  • Added a News Feed
    • This will help you keep up to date on usage tips and up coming updates with out leaving your website

There will be a more new features that I’ll be adding before the launch so bookmark this page if you’re interested.

Also feel free to add any feature suggestions in the comments.

If you would like to translate the plugin into your Native tongue leave a comment.

WordPress 3.1 Reinhardt is here!

Yes! WordPress 3.1 is here!

WordPress 3.1 Reinhardt is here!

I am more excited than a kid on Christmas, or a Trekkie at a Starfleet convention….

With the 3.1 release, WordPress is more of a CMS than ever before. The only limit to what you can build is your imagination.

According to the release they have given us WordPress developers tons of new hooks and features to get our clients’ websites the tools they need to make waves.

The update includes:

  • Unique  styling for the different types of posts
  • New CMS capabilities
  • Archive pages for custom content types
  • A new Network Admin
  • They rebuilt the import and export system
  • We now have control over taxonomy
  • And custom fields queries

SEO case study

The website stats are necessary to track visitors through your site to see if your site is focusing on the right keywords;

For example your spending you purchase the keyword Spill Kit on Google Adwords for a $1.50 a click.

You get 500 unique visits to your home page but only 10 of those people go on to make a purchase.

The other 490 leave the site from the page they landed on.

It’s clear from the stats that they where not interested in the Oil Spill Kits.

So we revise the Keyword to Oil Spill Kits and distill the traffic down to just the people clearly interested in Oil Spill Kits.

But it Doesn’t Validate

I have a small pet peeve that I’m going to share with you. On the nights when I finish up a new CSS3 tutorial for Nettuts+ — typically while listening to my favorite Biebster songs — I click publish, and then wait to see how long it’ll take before a reader leaves a comment containing the phrase, “But it doesn’t validate.”

— Jeffrey Way

Jeffrey Way’s article sums the subject of web validation  far more perspicuously then I ever could.

Another Employer who dosen’t get the Web

Read the following ad, and keep in mind they want a Graphic Web Designer, but what they really want is a Graphic Designer/Multimedia Expert/Flash Designer/Probably a Flash ActionScript Guru/Web UI Designer/Programer/Database Administrator/Package Designer/Mac Guy or Gal that some how had time to go to college and work as graphic web designer for 3 – 5 years.
